I thought I'd take a break from the writing madness and post some pics from my feline captors.
Here's Emma hiding in her "tent." I'm sure you can tell from her sweet demeanor that if you mess with her she'll rip your eyes out before you can say, "Meow." She's vicious and she's my favorite.
Next up, we have Zoro. If you can't tell from the picture, he likes to sleep. In his own bed. For most of the day. He also likes to eat, which explains the 17+ pounds of weight he hauls around on his comparatively skinny bones. He's part dog. He comes when he's called, and eats like a St. Bernard.
Here is King Dusty. He plays with his favorite green blanket until he's molded it into the perfect pillow. Then, like Zoro, it's "lights out" for most of the day. He also gives "apartment tours," taking visitors throughout the house showing them the finer points like chair legs and stair railings.
This is Caramel. She's Dusty's sister. She is also Queen of the Universe. When she was little, she was your typical Calico - aloof and in her own world. Now, at the ripe old age of 8, she can't get enough human love no matter how hard we try. Total 360. Go figure.
This is Tiger Lilly, Caramel's nemesis. She loves fat-free Half & Half. She's my lap kitty - sits on my lap and tells me what to write. I can't take any of the credit. It's all TL.
And last, but certainly not least, is Scampy. He's wise beyond his years. He's also a lap kitty, that is, when he's not sleeping in my closet protecting my shoes. He's my little sweetheart.
So, there you have it. My six feline captors. They're vicious, fluffy, cute, playful, sleepy and thoroughly in charge.
Tell me about your pets. Do they rule your roost?

They are so beautiful! I love cats. We have two darling cats named Sherman and Molly Cat. Sherman is the best "kid cat" I've ever seen. My children adore him and he tolerates almost everything they can dish out. Molly Cat is less fond of the kiddos, but she is my cuddle bug. She sleeps on top of me every night and I love it. :-)
Thanks for sharing about Sherman and Molly Cat. They sound purrfectly adorable!
Ooh, they're gorgeous! I love the names...and the personalities. We've got Bijoux - blue eyed princess and fluffy- she owns 'pup', Bella - quiet and loving - she owns Nick. And our newest addition, Bastien, fearlessly stupid 8mo male who is never far from me and come when I call out 'come to mommy' - never fails. Well, except when he got himself locked in the garage for 3 hours the other day. No wonder I couldn't write.
And no, I have no idea why they all have B names. I must be a little crazy lately.
They are the six kitty dwarfs :) That must make you snow white.
Crap, wrote a beautiful comment and it somehow vanished. Delete this if it shows up twice, K?
Looooove the kitty pics! Sheesh, I thought I was doing well with three cats and two dogs, but clearly I need a few more cats. There's no such thing as too much kitty love!
It's funny, when I first started blogging and tweeting, I avoided talking too much about my fur babies because I didn't want to come off as crazy-pet-lady (even though I AM crazy-pet-lady and adore my pets more than anything). But I've now discovered that my blog posts and tweets about pets seem to generate the most enthusiasm. Go figure.
Love the blog, and REALLY love those kitties! Thanks for sharing.
Tawna
Stacia, I love the names! Are they all cats? What will you do w/them when you come visit next month?
Bernadette, Snow White? More like the Wicked Queen! (Speaking of which, hoping to see Alice in Wonderland this weekend. Wish I could see it with you!)
Your descriptions of your cats makes me smile!! Thanks for sharing :-)
I only have one, Sansa, and she thinks she's a dog too. She is also a lap kitten. She sits on my lap while I write and purrs and snores at the same time. She likes to play fetch and have her belly scratched.
Tawna, I'm like you. I can never get enough kitty pictures. Love them to pieces! And I can't go inside pet stores either because, as you can probably tell, I'm not much of a window shopper! ;-)
writerkatlc, It's hilarious how they each have their own personalities. Sansa is a great name. I'd love to see a picture. ;-)
sweet! thanks for sharing. :)
Nancy, You're welcome! I love my fur babies; ;-)
Awww, they're so adorable. I looove cats. We have four, out of which three are Maine Coons. Quincy is more of a dog and loves playing with water of any variety, especially if it's in watering cans and bowls in the kitchen. Then there's his sister Quendolin, who has all the boy cats under her control, girl power! The third is Oasis, who sleeps all day and gets active at night. Lastly, we have a 'regular' black cat - Teddy. He's 13, but despite his old man status, quite youthful and agile. =)
We also have two dogs, but all six of them get along pretty well!
Carolin, Thanks for sharing your cats with us - they sound amazing. I love Maine Coons - that's what Dusty and Caramel are, too. It's good to hear your cats and dogs get along, because I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with a dog one of these days as well... ;-)
I agree and I can't thank you enough for being my inspiration on the subject. Cats are really great pets, and I never knew it until....well now. I love the little buggers!
If I'm brutally honest they don't look in charge. But then who am I to say? Glad they've put you in your place...
Great looking cats :) Although we love animals, we don't have any pets. We're just never been home long enough to be fair to pets.
Anon/Keith, I'm so glad I was able to push you in the feline direction. There's nothing better than kitties!
mo, That's part of their danger. They appear unassuming, so you let down your guard. Then they sneak up, make you fall madly in love with them, and then make you their slaves. It's fool-proof and has worked for centuries.
Jemi, As long as you have more than one, you can leave them alone for hours and they'll be fine. I'm home with them now, so I get to observe their quirky feline ways! ;-)
Karen, Glad you enjoyed my feline friends. Buddy sounds like a sweetheart! There's nothing better than furry love. ;-)
You don't like Cats at all, do you?
I'm allergic to Cats but I have 3 dogs--Pug- Lil Britches, Boxer- Mack & Pekingese- Spanky (a winning trio... HA!).
All of them are up for auction right now, heck I'll pay you... just take them!
Kimberly, Your dogs are up for auction? WHAT???
I was allergic to cats, and still am at times, but the allergies have lessened and so here I am - captive to six felines. Oy vey.
KITTENS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love love love love love ur puff balls of AND their judgmental stares!!
:)
That first graphic looks like my Jasmine!!:) U gotta come check out the video I made of her-I'm gonna have to reload it since the transitions ended up a little funky, but I still love it! The video is a couple of posts down from my latest!
YAAAY for Kittles!!! :)
Love the pics and stories about your cats! I am such a cat lover and cat imagine my life without at least one cat!
My cat, Kittie, was just put to sleep this week because of serious health problems. She was my cat and didn't want anyone else, including other pets, to get anywhere near me. She would attack them to keep me all to herself!
My other cat, Puppie, is 12 now and she is the lazy, loves everyone, lap and snuggle cat.
Aw, you have a little kitty harem. I have Pfatima (aka, Pfatty, a 10-year-old 18 pound Himalayan), and Matilda (a 1-1/2 year-old 8 pound calico). They're my girls, and I love them to death. The only thing I don't like about them is their catbox. Blegck!
Penny, I'll be sure to check out your video of Princess Jasmine. Kitties definitely rule!
Donna, I'm so sorry to hear about Kittie, may she rest in peace. That's the tough part about having pets - we love them so much, they're part of the family. And, I love that you named your cats Kittie and Puppie - truly cute!
FL, Your kitties sound awesome! I'm w/you about the litter boxe(s). Fortunately, that's not my deal. ;-)
BABIES!!
Waaaah, I miss having pets. ._. I shall just have to love yours in absentia!
Ruthanne, I have plenty to share. Come on down and you can pick three. ;-))
Dude. That's a lot of cats.
I like cats, but my daughter is allergic, so we have a French Bulldog. My old cats now live with my parents, so I visit them often!
Cute photos!
Love your kitties! I have 3 that I adore. I also have a 60lb 'cat' that they have trained well. It's amusing to watch a goldendoodle stalk just like a cat would. :)
Wendy, It's wild - I was allergic as well as one of my sons and my husband, but besides the occasional allergic flare-up, we've all been pretty healthy. And, dude, you're SO right - six is a lot of cats!
Laura, I'd never heard of a goldendoodle before - I looked them up and they're GORGEOUS!!! Now we want one, so thanks for that. ;-)
Awww, so pretty! *smiling*
I like your new photo - at least I think it's new -- !
Kat, It is new, although it's from the same photo shoot as the "blue" one. Thanks for noticing! ;-)
Love them, Debra! I've been petless for a while now...which is just plain awful for me. I have a wonderful husband who's in a wheelchair...and so, he put the brakes on me after the last of our many kitties and doggies passed away. He's afraid I won't have time for my writing if I get a dog. I started surfing on petfinder, and from there my Teach Spot blog was born. I'm waiting him out...plotting and planning, though. Some day, I might just show up with a furry bundle under my arm, and he'll be stuck with him/her!
Gael, It's hard living without sweet, little fur-babies! I'm sure when the time is right, once again, you'll "know." Hugs to you and your hubby. ;-)
