Great Success at The Diving Cat

Our show exceeded our greatest expectations! The Diving Cat is an extraordinarily spiritual, peaceful, creative space reflecting the beauty and brilliance of owner Markels. She is a truly gifted artist. This event was in honor of the one-year anniversary of her studio/gallery. On the large table at the back of the gallery where Markels holds her art classes, there was an inviting spread of veggies, guacamole, crab dip, chips, pretzels, cake, and the most delicious homemade cookies! (Yup, Markel's talents include the kitchen!) There was also a nice selection of beer and wine. Candles and incense filled the air with sweet, soul-affirming aromas.

The turn-out was high - over 100 people - and we received rave reviews! We were told we were the best live act to come to Phoenixville, a town known for its great musical talent both locally and nationally. That was an enormous compliment (even if the folks who said it were being paid off by my mom.) We played from 7-11PM, and added several songs we'd never rehearsed before since . Unfortunately, we didn't get any video of our performance, but we did get some pics. I've included a picture of one of the many diving cats in the store, a couple of pictures of Chuck and I, one of Markels, me and Chuck, and one of me. If you'd like to hear our music just click here or here. (Note the use of my stage name, Jamie Keys, on the site.) The evening was pure magic from beginning to end, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Awesome. I listened to the songs ie Rooftops, Rain Dance and Beautiful illusions, all of them awesome. Congrats! on the talent you have and I always consider people who have a passion for music and lost in it, are blessed. Great! once again.

Well Debbie, I have to tell you, I'm completely blown away and impressed. The songs are incredibly inspired and beautifully composed. You've got a Chrissie Hind quality to your vocals but at times your voice sounds airy and melodic. Of course, being a music lover, I listened to them all. I loved them all. Now I'm going to wander away and wonder how it is I am blessed so often to meet such talented and good people. HUGS :)

Please respell Hind as Hynde. I Know a girl here who spells her name Hind, hence my dumb as soap moment. ;)

nsiyer, Thank you so much for listening and for the heartfelt compliments! You are right - music is a great blessing and having people like you listen to it and enjoy it are even greater blessings.

Val, You and I have to do lunch one of these days, girlfriend! Thank you SO much for listening to all the songs on our site. There are hundreds more where they came from, and we're actively trying to finish some up right now. I'll be sure to let you know when we upload more. Your kind words are humbling. Namaste.

Angie, Isn't that cool? Markels is somewhat famous for her crow sculptures - there's even (at least) one in one of the big museums in Philly!

Listening to Martian Girl now! I decided to click on them and listen whilst I'm visiting this morning!

Loving this....very otherwordly this one is ...cool!

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Kat, I'm glad you're listening! Martian Girl is a great tune. Chuck wrote it many years ago - I always teased him that I was from Mars. You know how stupid people can be when they're first together. (I think he finally figured out I was kidding, but you'd have to ask him.) Let me know what you think of any others songs you listen to.;-)

Debbie said...

I am so happy for you. I'm thrilled it went well and you sound great:)

Debbie, Thanks so much! I wish all my blog friends could have been there. I'll definitely post some video next time around.

Amy, I love Storms. I also love Not the Same Anymore, Rooftops, a Beautiful Illusion. OK, I admit it. I love them all. Music is such an amazing gift. Let me know what you think after you listen to some more.;-)

Have you ever considered playing at a Polish Falcons? I'm sure I could arrange a handful of "free drinks" chips and unlimited kielbasa.
