True Confessions & Personal Questions

Here's my latest True Confession. Yesterday I ate:

Breakfast: Egg and cheese sandwich from WaWa

Lunch: Popcorn (at Up In the Air)

Dinner: Chocolate Chip Muffin and a glass of OJ (after Avatar)

Um, yeah, sad, but true. So....

I'm hereby declaring December 26th to be: NATIONAL HEALTHY EATING DAY! (Cue inspiring music.)

Join me if you dare!!!

IN OTHER NEWS...
I sent my agent the polished 2nd draft of THE SECRET KEEPER on Thursday AND... I started writing the follow-up yesterday! I wasn't planning on it, but there it was - the first couple of pages. Ah, fresh, new ideas. SQUEE!!!

Our Christmas: We saw UP IN THE AIR - thought provoking, great acting by George Clooney (so what else is new?), ending fell a bit flat, and...

AVA
TAR (3D!) The MOST incredible special effects known to mankind, great story, some good acting (though I think it could have been better,) long (3 hours) and great political/moral messages.

I love asking personal questions, especially when the answers are juicy! Here are a few for you, my dear readers. Be creative.

How were your holidays?

Did you snag some groovy holiday loot?

Did you get to hang out with those you love?

Did you see any great movies?

Did you have any intense family drama?

Did you laugh a lot?

Do you have any deep, dark secrets you want to share?

Do tell!

My holidays were quiet but lovely. Only changed out of my jammies to go for a run.... then showered and right back in em. It's our tradition to eat Christmas dinner in our jammies.

No, didn't snag any major holiday loot, but my favorites were a sweater I bought myself and the new 2010 Writer's Digest. Curled up with that for a while.

Hung out with my kids and my husband. Truthfully, I like that no one comes over on Christmas Day. We have family over on the Eve, and that's perfect.

Movies... ah... saw Valkyrie, which I'm still digesting. Can't say one way or the other if I liked it. It was interesting. Would I recommend... hmmm... not sure. Funny too because the whole theme was about being indecisive - haha. The other film we watched was Revolutionary Road. Let me say, that is NOT a full-of-love flick. Rather depressing. If you are an engaged couple brimming with gushy love, I'd highly recommend you skip this one. You'll be getting divorced before you even get married. Having been married 16 yrs, sadly, we could relate to the angst of the leads. Marriage is not an easy road... revolutionary or not.

Laugh? I didn't laugh a lot, but I did overflow with smiles.

All in all, it was a great day.

Jeanne, Thanks for giving such great detail! I've heard Revolutionary Road is incredibly depressing, and I'm all about romantic comedies, so I think I'll skip that one. We've been married a long time, too, so I do know how difficult keeping it together can be. I love the idea of staying in your jammies all day! And, you got up to take a run? Now that's impressive!

Happiest of holidays to you, my friend. ;-)

It was a Christmas full of the "good, bad and ugly"!!

My oldest son and two granddaughters flew in from the frozen north of MA to spend several days with us and it was glorious!!

I got a Kindle DX from hubby! Awesome!!...good!!!

Hubby got and still has miserable cold and then migraine...ugly!!!

Our freezer in the garage tripped a breaker and defrosted about $300 worth of food...bad!!!

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Donna, Ah, a Christmas to remember! Hope hubby's feeling better and freezer survives. Here's to a happy, healthy new year filled with the good, the best, and the better!

Glad to hear you had such fun! We've had a great time - lots of family, friends, food & fun! I've made 2 batches of turkey soup. My fave gift was an iPod touch - music + an digital organizer - perfect :)

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Jemi, iPod touch - AWESOME! Plus, you cook, which to me is akin to neurosurgery and flying rocket ships. Bravo!

Deep dark secret....my sister in law didn't have any money to draw names for Christmas but she did manage to spend tons on herself....I am sick of no one helping clean up except me and my husband & it's not even my house and I am tired of my grandson's other grandmother buying him to much and asking my daughter if it's ok...sometimes she would like to buy her son certain, and I sick of the same daughter get dollar store junk from the step mother in law.....Other than that I had a wonderful Christmas with my daughters, grandson and husband....Sorry but you asked for deep and dark and I could put it on my Blog Have a great day tomorrow!!

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Gayle, Wow! Well, I hope you feel better now - sometimes we just need to get things off our chests, so to speak. I have a sneaking suspicion you have an amazingly awesome family. Sometimes the holidays don't bring out the best in people... ;-)

I had a lovely, lovely day in spite of the extended fam's dramas and changes in plan (which we managed to stay out of--Jeanne, now that I'm divorced I find your description of Revolutionary Road intriguing ;). Good food, a nap, and fires in fireplaces. What I watched: my friend the Lutheran pastor's Christmas present to herself: season 1 of Alias!

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Ann Marie, "Good food, a nap, and fires in fireplaces." I can't imagine anything more perfect. ;-)

Bethany Wiggins said...

My holiday was perfect... no drama, let the kids eat all the candy they could, read, had dinner at a friend's house, husband took kids sledding... PERFECT!

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Bethany, Sounds like a slice of heaven on earth. Candy, reading, sledding, no drama, perfect! ;-)

I'm here getting caught up on my post holiday blog reading! Is there coffee?

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Julie, If you say so! I'm a chai tea kind of girl, myself. Happy Holidays to you!!!

Oh, man. I should have read this post yesterday before I grazed on cookies all day long. So I guess that's my deep dark secret. I ate cookies all day long yesterday. And already had one for breakfast this morning...
My holidays were fab, great times with the family. Besides grazing, we watched the snow fall all day yesterday and played the new board games and Wii games with the kids All day yesterday. It's organization day today (with a few more games). :)
Loot? Some good books, CDs, great gift cards, and some cute clothes and sneakers and a zebra striped snuggie ;)
Luckily no drama. I love the family time with my parents and sister on Christas Day and church and dinner with my inlaws on Eve and the morning that the kids run down the stairs to see what Santa brought.

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Kelly, It sounds like your Christmas was damn near perfect. Good for you! Quality time with family + cookies = SCORE! ;-)

Ruthanne Reid said...

Woo, got some good ones for you, I think. :D

How were your holidays?
Amazing and exhausting. This whole month has been so filled with family/friend crises that I'm beginning to lose track if I'm coming or going.

Did you snag some groovy holiday loot?
I did. My father in law made me a spoon. With my name in it. And the Reid family ranch brand in the handle. http://www.flickr.com/photos/doortoriver/4214188298/ I know it sounds silly, but this is one of the most touching gifts EVER.

Did you get to hang out with those you love?
Yes. That made everything good.

Did you see any great movies?
No, but I added them to my list of must-see. *laugh*

Did you have any intense family drama?
Yes.
Yup.
Uh-huh amen boy howdy.

Did you laugh a lot?
ALSO yes. Thanks to loved ones. They are awesome, those loved one types.

Do you have any deep, dark secrets you want to share?
Mmmm... how about this: I realized I was starting to avoid human contact because there was so much unpleasant human contact being thrust upon me. Not healthy, that. *prepares to leave the safety of the cave*

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Ruthanne, Ah, the good and the not so good... sounds a little like life. I pray your New Year will be filled with all things wonderful. I'm here if you need me. ;-)

nsiyer, I agree that laughter is one of the Universe's greatest gifts! I do it often and loud! I promise to visit your blog more frequently. Sorry, if I've been a bit of a slacker... Happiest of new years to you and your family. ;-)

Karen, What a great spiritual thing to do for Christmas! And, yes, we "civilized" people have certainly left our marks in good ways and not so good ways. Here's wishing us all a happy New Year filled with wisdom in how we approach each other and take care of our precious planet. ;-)

1. Holidays were great, though not long enough still :)

2. Loot, yes. We got a Wii for the kiddos... turns out, it's just as fun for us parents too lol.

3. We got to see most of our family.

4. No movies, just games and family.

5. No drama this year **whew**

6. I laughed, some cried, it was EPIC!

7. Deep dark secrets: Um, I stuck my finger in the cake... j/k no secrets heh

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

VW, Sounds like a perfect Christmas. And, really, you shouldn't mess with the cake. If anything's sacred in this world it's CAKE!!!

I really want to see that Avatar movie!

Our Christmas was nice. Christmas Eve, well...let's just say we're lucky Santa stopped by...

We had set out a plate of cookies and fudge, only the dog thought it was for him! Of course, we didn't figure this out until 1 am when the dog decided to barf on my son. At least it was a memorable Christmas Eve!

Kimberly Franklin said...

Something told me to pay you a visit today. It's almost like it was subliminal. Like it's subliminal Monday or something. I'm not crazy, right? LOL. : )

Happy New Year!

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Sherrie, Avatar is something to see. Just make sure you get a good night sleep since it's nearly 3 hours long! And, about the dog and the cookies? Ew!!! ;-)

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Kimberly, OOPSIE!!! Oh, great, I've already blown it. Let's just say Subliminal Mondays will begin in 2010!!!! (New Year's resolution?!)

Kimberly Franklin said...

LOL! You haven't blown it. Maybe the messages this week are hidden, subliminally. LOL. And you did it without even knowing it. Wow...you're good!

Hope you have a great night! : )

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Kimberly, You know what? I like the way you think. [Seriously, you're a genius.] If you get a chance, give me a reminder on Sat. or Sun. about Subliminal Message Monday. Not that I'd forget again or anything... [You can bet money I'll forget.]

Kimberly Franklin said...

LOL! You're so funny! Hope you have a Happy New Year!

My sister's husband got her this beautiful diamond necklace and my other sister and I were discussing the length of the chain. Other sister said, "It should be a little longer, so it hits her cleavage." Sister's husband says, "It's the length where her cleavage USED to be." Sounds harsh, I know, but we all thought it was very funny, even the sister with the lower cleavage.

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Anita, Great story! Oh, if we could all have our "old" cleavage locales back. Damn you, gravity!

I bought myself and the new 2010 Writer's Digest. Curled up with that for a while.
